Etude House Sweet Recipe Icecream Nails

Image

Ebay has ruined my resolve not to spend for the second time this week. Note to self, stay away from the health and beauty section. Today’s purchase was a complete accident. I was scrolling through the health and beauty section of Ebay while I was waiting for the kettle to boil (really), and the Sweet Recipe Ice-cream Nails by etude house popped onto my screen. While I’ve used (and I’m currently loving) an Etude House BB cream, I haven’t tried or even looked at any of their other products and I had no idea they made nail polish. When this collection of polishes appeared I may have squeaked over-excitedly. These polishes immediately reminded me of the speckled polishes from Illamasqua that i’m dying to try. At £3.50 each, Ice-cream Nails are a quarter of the price, a budget friendly alternative to their Illamasqua counterparts and can be purchased from Ebay.

While the Etude House  aren’t an exact dupe by any means, they’re similar enough and for the price I’m certainly not going to complain. The four shades in this collection are all fun pastels, each with speckles in complementing colours. I bought the shades Apricot Candy and Strawberry Stars Candy and I can’t wait to try them!

Ebay Indulgence

I’m a complete Ebay addict, I spend hours browsing looking for bargains. I love seeing what other people buy so I thought I’d share what I’ve bought this week for those as nosy as me.

None of my items have arrived yet, I’m hoping they’re semi decent quality but they were so cheap I can’t really argue, even if I only get a few wears out of them. Of course I’m hoping they’re amazing but time will tell!

Wish List Indulgence – Benefit Most Glamourous Nudes Ever

A few days ago I found myself at the Benefit counter in Debenhams while waiting for my mum. I posted last week about Benefit’s Most Glamourous Nudes Ever, one of their World Famous Neutrals Kits. I saw, I swatched, I purchased. I’m not even going to make excuses, I resisted for all of 9 minutes before I allowed the sales assistant to convince me I needed this palette. I clearly have no self control this week.

On the way to the till I was accosted by the lady at the CK One counter (Calvin Klein’s new beauty range) and after swatching 6 shades, I came home with a nude gloss in the shade Tender ( like i said, NO self control!). I took the following images in natural light and they’re unedited so hopefully they’re a good representation of the shades. Here are my swatches:

The CK One gloss looks quite deep in the tube but on the lips it’s a quite sheer pinky nude. The formula wasn’t at all sticky which really pleased me as I can’t stand sticky lip products. Your hair gets stuck to your face and it’s generally gross.

As for the Benefit shadows, I’m a little disappointed. While the colours are pretty, unfortunately the colour payoff isn’t great. They shades come off quite sheer and I had to build each swatch up four times to achieve the opacity in the photo above. Maybe I’ve become spoilt with the fantastic pigmentation offered from other high end brands but for the price of this palette I really expected more. There’s so many high street or drug store brands like Sleek and MUA that are able to offer highly pigmented shadows for a relatively low cost, i’m disappointed that Benefit couldn’t offer better pigmentation for the price point.

As for the shades themselves, the first, Call My Buff, is a shimmery pale champagne. This is so close to my skin tone that it’s barely noticeable on me. I think it will be beautiful on any skin tone darker than mine but it’s still a pretty highlight shade.

Kiss Me, I’m Tipsy is a described as a ‘spiced brown’ by Benefit. It looks a little muddy in the photograph but is beautiful on the skin.

It’s Complicated is a beautiful peachy pink with a slight golden shimmer. I’m not usually a fan on pink shadows but this is a gorgeous colour that works really well with the other shades in the palette.

Gilt-y Pleasure is a stunning warm gold with a subtle shimmer that’s very wearable for day time. This shade is my favourite in the palette and I’ve been using this with Kiss Me I’m Tipsy for a few days now and `i’m not bored yet.

The image above shows the two creaseless cream shadows in the palette. The first, Birthday Suit, I already own in it’s full size. It’s a gorgeous neutral shade and very wearable alone. My Two Cents is a lovely copper that fits nicely with the other shades in the palette. I wouldn’t wear it alone as it’s a bit too bright in my opinion but its lovely when paired with Birthday Suit. The formulation of these bases is fantastic, they blend well and have great pigmentation and staying power.

Overall I’m happy with both of these products and I’ll definitely get lots of use out of both, I just wish the Benefit shadows were slightly more pigmented.

Product Review: Milk_shake Conditioning Whipped Cream

I received a sample of the Milk_Shake Conditioning Whipped Cream in a Glossybox and I’ve only gotten round to trying it this month. To be honest I’m not sure it actually makes my hair any softer. It does seem to act as a de-tangler when I apply it to wet hair. After applying this I can easily comb through my thick and usually tatty hair but I’m not convinced it really makes my hair any softer after use and so it’s a bit pointless really, as it’s aim as a leave in conditioner is to make the hair feel softer. That being said, this smells eat-me-now-scrumptious (yes that is indeed the word). this is honestly the best smelling hair product I’ve ever tried. Really, I wanted to squirt it all over some apple pie and devour the lot!

I’ve really enjoyed using this product for no other reason than I can sniff my hair and smell that amazing scent a few hours every time I wash my hair. Maybe I’m turning into a weird hair sniffing freak, but to be honest, I really don’t care. I’ve enjoyed using this so much that I’m seriously considering purchasing the full size version of this product despite my earlier admission that I’m not entirely sure it actually does anything. If anyone knows of a whipped cream recipe that tastes the way this stuff smells I’ll name my first child after you be really appreciative! I’d love to know what other people think of this product, if you can’t tell already, I think it’s freaking amazing.

Milk_shake Conditioning Whipped Cream can be purchased for £11.69  at milkshakehairproducts.co.uk.

Bargain of the Week – Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Pink Gold

I’ve owned a few of the Maybelline Colour Tatoo’s for a while now, I’ve been impressed with the pigmentation and longevity of these cream shadows and at £4.99 each they’re an absolute steal. Last week I came across the colour Pink Gold while aimlessly wandering the beauty aisles in Superdrug. I’m don’t often use pink shadows but this Colour Tattoo is simply gorgeous and has completely won me over. It’s even replaced my MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque as my daily shadow base. I’ve been using Pink Gold every day this week and it really brightens my eyes, perfect for when I want a natural look during the week. I still have to use UD’s Primer Potion or this will crease on my lids but even MAC Paint Pots and Benefit Creaseless Creams crease on me so this isn’t a negative for me.

Overall I’m really impressed with this shade and i can see myself getting a lot of use out of it.

Dr Bronners Liquid Soap

Image

Last week in TK Maxx I found bottles of the Dr Bronners Liquid Soap. I’ve heard great things about this product and wanted to use it for a while. I love multitasking products and from the reviews online it can be used for anything from shampoo to laundry. I Intend to use it for cleaning my makeup brushes and I’m expecting great things. I paid £3.99 per bottle and I purchased the scents Hemp Rose and Hemp Citrus Orange. Lets hope this product lives up to the hype.
