I have found the holy grail of all brushes! All hail Sigma! OK, maybe that was a little dramatic, but I’m excited see? For a while now I’ve searched for brushes that match or exceed MAC brushes in terms of quality and I’ve finally found some. After lots of great reviews on YouTube I decided to give sigma brushes a try and I’m so so happy with them (as if that wasn’t abundantly obvious >;.<;). I purchased the four face brushes, four concealer brushes and lots of eye brushes. You can never have too many in my oh so biased opinion.
The Kabuki/face brushes are wonderfully soft, incredibly dense and give a seamless natural finish when used with liquid foundation. They’re so soft I can’t resist stroking my cheek with them. Not weird at all right? If you could only purchase one sigma brush (even though it would be incredibly cruel to be forced to limit yourself to just one), I’d have to say the flat top kabuki. While I try to refrain from using terms like ‘airbrushed’ and ‘flawless’ to describe a finish, this brush comes pretty damn close to providing perfect application.
I have to say that the precision brushes are rather incredible too. For someone who has long since given up on using brushes to apply concealer, these babies have totally restored my faith. Sigma’s precision brushes actually blend out my concealer without removing most of the product, an occurrence that became a daily problem for me when using my MAC 194. All four brushes in the kit are fantastic but the flat top is the master of blemish coverage and the tapered precision brush is great for getting into the corners of the nose. As mini sized dupes of the larger kabuki set, sigma’s precision brushes did not disappoint.
The eye set gave great variety, from a small angled brush, pencil brushes, tapered crease brushes and flat blending brushes, this kit was really well balanced. All the brushes very soft, dense and didn’t shed. All in all, once again they were pretty close to perfect. There seems to be a pattern occurring here…
Hey everyone! I loved so many products this month but there were 3 that really stood out for me.
I have to start with the Benefit Moisture Prep Toning Lotion. While I’m not one to get excited by overpriced water (lets face it, many toners are just that), the moisture prep toning lotion by benefit is truly something special. Not only does this product smell absolutely-wonderfully-fresh (yes that’s a word), it feels fantastic on my skin. This actually glides over my skin without any resistance, or drying. I can’t describe the consistency as anything other than slippy. It feels more hydrating than water if that’s even possible and unlike some brands I’ve tried recently (yes I’m talking about you Lancome) that dried out as soon as the touched my face and left my skin feeling tight and dull, I feel this product really did prep my skin to better absorb my moisturiser. I’ll definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out.
After reading countless positive reviews about this product, I finally gave the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream a try and I have to say I’m not disappointed. This BB cream gives fantastic coverage and blends beautifully to provide a really natural finish. I have awful dry skin and this product doesn’t settle into my dry patches, it gives my skin a nice healthy, dewy glow without appearing oily. This is one of the best BB creams I’ve tried and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone disappointed with western attempts at BB creams or anyone looking to try one for the first time. The only downside to this product is that it’s only suitable for light/medium skin tones. I wear the shade 13 and I purchased it on ebay from seller rubyruby76.
Finally, the Casual Colour Lip and Cheek Coloursby MAC have to be some of the best products I’ve purchased this month. I’m a huge fan of cream blushes but I’m not in love with MAC’s cremeblend blushes so I didn’t expect to like the casual colour lip and cheek colours. I was pleasantly surprised to see these out-performed my expectations. These little beauties were released with the casual colour collection and are brand new, never released before products. They have a lightweight, non-greasy, creamy formula which is nicely pigmented. They blend out really nicely but the colour is also very buildable if you want something a little more dramatic. The product blends really easily with fingers or brushes and gives the face a natural looking glow. I own three of these in the shades; lazy Sunday, have a lovely day and weekend getaway. These are limited edition so get them while you can.
